(August 23, 2013 – New York, NY) OVERNIGHT, the third album by Charlottesville, Virginia, band Parachute, released August 13th on Mercury Records, debuted inside the Top 5 on the iTunes Overall chart this week. The debut was bolstered by an explosive performance on The Tonight Show of their single “Can’t Help,” co-written by RyanTedder (OneRepublic) (CLICK HERE). Parachute, kicked off their summer tour in support of OVERNIGHT with a sold out release date gig at New York’s Irving Plaza. The 4-week, 30 show U.S. tour wraps up on September 22th in Dallas, TX at House of Blues. (Please see tour dates below.)
OVERNIGHT follows up Parachute’s second album, The Way It Was (released May 2011), which rose to the #1 Rock Album and #2 Overall Album spots at iTunes. The album contained the #1 iTunes Rock Song “Kiss Me Slowly” (co-written with Grammy® winners Lady Antebellum) and the Top 15 AC hit“Something To Believe In” – which was played during the 2011 Rose Bowl football classic, went on to become an ESPN staple, and was performed by Parachute on their first The Tonight Show appearance.
Parachute – magnetic frontman Will Anderson (guitars, piano, lead vocals), Kit French (saxophone, keyboards, vocals), Alex Hargrave (bass), Johnny Stubblefield(drums), and Nate McFarland (lead guitar, vocals) – toured non-stop across North America In support of The Way It Was. Since 2011, Parachute has played over 250 shows across North America with bands ranging from the Goo Goo Dolls and Plain White T’s, to NeedtoBreathe and Andy Grammer.
Parachute’s debut album, Losing Sleep shot to #1 on the iTunes and Amazon digital albums charts and spun off the Top 15 Hot AC hit single “She Is Love” (whose video boasts over 6.4 million views). A slow-burning acoustic performance of the song at the New Year’s Eve celebration in Times Square kicked off a breakout year for Parachute, who appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America and Jimmy Kimmel Live, and CBS’s The Early Show. Losing Sleep was subsequently reissued on iTunes in a deluxe version adding the “She Is Love” video, rare B-sides, acoustic versions, and live tracks.
The video for “She Is Love” spent three months on VH1’s Top 20 Countdown. The second single, “Under Control” became one of the most popular iTunes Single Of The Week features to emerge from a #1 iTunes album. Parachute’s songs have been featured on MTV’s The City and the CW’s One Tree Hill,Vampire Diaries and 90210, in the Band Herovideo game, and in spots for Nivea skin care.
