“Everyone I see just wants to walk with gritted teeth
But I just stand by and I wait my time.
They say you gotta tow the line they want the water not the wine
But when I see the signs, I jump on that Lightning Bolt …”
(July 14, 2014 – New York, NY)  Young British singer-songwriter Jake Bugg will issue his U.S. EP August 5th on Island Records, LIGHTNING BOLT, reprising his massively popular signature track that continues to receive unprecedented exposure via Gatorade’s saturation TV spots.  The EP will contain “Lightning Bolt,” (impacting early-August at AAA radio), Jake’s first U.S. single and opening cut of his self-titled debut album, as well as “Simple As This,” featured in the hit movie Fault In Their Stars, “Feel What's Good,” which is the previously unreleased Rick Rubin produced track that is featured in the new blockbuster movie The Giver, and “There's A Beast And We All Feed It,” the new UK single.
Jake recently wrapped up a month of touring that included festival dates at Firefly, Bonnaroo, and Summerfest, plus a round of sold-out headlining shows.  On August 8th, he will perform at FMQB’s Triple-A Radio Conference in Boulder, Colorado, joining nearly 40 artists booked for the highly influential annual convention.  Jake’s next major tour will be in support of the Black Keys on their upcoming fall schedule, October 24th through November 16th.
“After three insistent verses,” raved the NewYorker.com Culture Desk post about “Lightning Bolt,” following Jake’s heroic sold-out performance last year at New York’s Webster Hall, “he sings the chorus, and goes from startling to revelatory.  He can sing.  He has talent.  He cares about something.  And this makes you feel a little better about the world.”
Jake was 18 years old when he became the youngest male artist in UK chart history to debut at #1 with his first album, Jake Bugg.  Released April 2013 in the U.S. on Island, the album was awarded an ultra-rare 4-star review from Rolling Stone, who declared it “a small revelation” with “vivid storytelling. . . For a teenager’s debut, Jake Bugg shows an artist who is crazy fully formed, stepping into a journey that should be worth following.”
The Jake Bugg album release was followed up with appearances on CBS’s The Late Show with David Letterman, NBC Universal’s The Ellen DeGeneres Show, NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, as millions of tv viewers relished the “Lightning Bolt” tv commercials. In November 2013, Island released Jake’s second album, SHANGRI LA, produced by Rick Rubin at Shangri La Studios in Malibu, California.  Jake toured non-stop in support of the album (including a 13-city headlining North American tour in January, every date sold-out in advance), with tv appearances including returns to Letterman and Ellen, plus FOX’s American Idol, TBS’s Conan, NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, CBS Sunday, and more.
